Artwork: It's not just art, it's work!
Breaking Out of Your Comfort Zone
I started painting animals when I decided to participate in Tampa's Lowry ZooFest two years ago. Before then, I primarily painted beach scenes and florals. Participating in an event that would bring in animal lovers, I decided to try my hand at giraffes, bears, tigers etc.
I shared my animal images with my facebook friends and sold several through facebook. I also sold at the event. This encouraged me to try doing pet portraits for others. I was nervous about pleasing a client with an image of their four legged "child" but was met with enthusiam each time. Now I paint animals along with my beach and florals.
If you are an artist, I encourage you to break outside of your comfort zone, to not let the blank canvas intimidate you and most of all to make time for your art. If you are NOT an artist, but love art, I hope you'll give yourself, or a loved one, the gift of art and buy a one-of-a-kind treasure! I bought a painting I stumbled across online for myself for Mother's Day (thanks honey).
